All researchers supervise at least one research project. The purpose of this training is to develop participants’ project management competencies so that they can apply their skills to both their research project and future professional projects.
Project management skills can be divided into four parts
- How to define a project or a task: understanding and describing;
- How to define a project: principles and steps;
- How to carry out a project and report about it;
- Learning from past experiences as a project manager.
The first session gives you access to the course material. Theoretical modules - supported by slides (available in pdf format) - will alternate with small practical exercises. You will carry out these exercises in writing so that the trainer can observe and examine them. These activities will take place in the UV environment.
Afterwards, you will have one week to apply your newly acquired project management skills to your thesis project. Ideally, you ask your thesis promotor for approval on your research project's scope and objectives.
The second session will build on small working groups. Within each group, everyone will share their experience and reflections on treating their thesis as a project, The trainer will discuss with you how your project management could be optimised. At the end of the session -approx. at noon, the trainer will host a plenary discussion aimed at exchanging the individual lessons learned.
